Charles began his career in Southeast Asia with Lazada (Rocket Internet / Alibaba Group), where he launched cross-border marketplaces in Vietnam and served as Senior Country Manager for the Philippines. He later joined the founding team of Schmatz, scaling the business from a single Tokyo restaurant into one of Japan’s leading craft beer brands.

Following his time as an operator, Charles transitioned to the Private Equity team at McKinsey & Company in London, where he led commercial due diligence work for top-tier funds. He has also spent time with Cherry Ventures and as an Investment Manager at Heritage Holdings, and currently serves as a Board Member of Heineken Holding NV and Board Member & Trustee of The Lucille Foundation.

Charles holds an MBA with Honors from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he also attended INSEAD, and a BA from Princeton University, where he was the Senior Captain of the University Ski Team. An avid endurance athlete, he has completed several ultramarathons, marathons, and Ironman 70.3 races, and is passionate about consumer trends, global expansion, and health & wellness.
